4 days of having snow here in NE Georgia…
Since I was a kid I have always wanted to get that classic photo of a male Cardinal in the snow…..and two days ago was my big break. Temperatures in the upper 20’s, fresh snow, sky overcast, and freezing rain filling up the tops of my boots and cap…I pretended I was a National Geographic photographer and headed out.
The light was not very favorable….so I composed these frames with Japanese style for ink drawings in mind. The effect is whimsical and in a few of the pics you can get a glimpse of the Cardinal’s comic side.

shaking it off….

galloping hop……

this Cardinal was quite kind to the sparrows and allowed them to stay while feeding on fallen seed….

The next day the lighting was much better….but the male Cardinal stayed up in the top of the tree…but managed to get a few crisp pictures of a female Cardinal….and later the male…

striking…..

like the movement in this one…..

think he was showing off in this one….
The last picture here is our goofy dog playing in the snow….

Gotta get outside and be creative.
